Netscape Composer Project:
![]()
familiarize yourself with Netscape's FREE web page builder: Composer.
Here is where you can get it.
Once you've downloaded and installed it, use this turorial to learn the ropes: http://wp.netscape.com/browsers/using/newusers/composer
Everything you see here has been done using Netscape Composer. Although limited for the highly technical aspects of Web design, I think you'll find its capabilities pretty impressive.......especially considering the price:-)
We will practice building sample web pages in class. As we do so, please keep in mind your final project: a personal web page employing Graphics, MIDI files, sound files (mp3,wav,etc)......
Start compiling a folder full of resources:
pictures, web pages you'd like to link with, backgrounds that appeal to you, etc.
Here is a nice pallette of backgrounds to get you started:

A Note about FOLDER structure:
This is a critical aspect of web page design. As we start our web pages, we first will set up a folder hierarchy.
EVERYTHING related to your webpage will go in a folder entitled "(your name)'s WebPage".
Within that main folder, you will create 3 additional folders, entitled:
"html pages", "graphics", "media".
The main page (first page we see) of your webpage will be titled "index.html" and will be saved as a separate file within the WebPage folder.
Thus, your folder structure will look like this:
